Barry Plumpton: 1968 Camaro

Barry started racing his 1968 Camaro in 2017. He has previously campaigned a nitrous injected 2005 Monte Carlo in Top Doorslammer. With the two cars, Barry won the IHRA Nationals Top Doorslammer bracket in 2017 and the NZDRA Nationals Top Doorslammer bracket in 2014, 18 & 19. He won the NZDRA Championship in 2014 and doubled up in 2016 & 18 when he won both the IHRA and NZDRA Championships. He won the unified Kiwi Thunder series in 2019.
In May 2019, Barry made history by recording the first nitrous 5 second pass in Australia, a 5.885 at 240.98 mph. Later that year, he recorded the first 5 second Top Doorslammer pass in New Zealand on 16 November, 2019, with a 5.925 at 237. 42 at Meremere Dragway.
In June 2025, Barry won Pro Mod at the IHRA Winternationals in Ipswich, Australia.
