2025 IHRA Australia Winternationals

2024/25 NDRC. Round 4

Willowbank Raceway, Queensland, 6 - 8 June, 2025

The 2025 IHRA Australia Winternationals, held at Willowbank Raceway, Queensland, saw three New Zealand doorslammer drivers competing in Pro Slammer and Pro Mod. Steve Carlson and Nigel Dixon in Top Doorslammer and Barry Plumpton in Pro Mod.

Barry qualified fourth with a 5.950 at 238.38 mph in Pro Mod, which is a 5.85 index class in Australia. Eliminations saw him advance to the final with a first round 5.851 at 244.21, followed by a 5.910 at 224.32. The final saw Barry record a 6.083 to beat Stew Walsh's 6.165 to win the gold christmas tree.

Top Doorslammer qualifying saw Steve record a PB of 5.992 in his 1965 Falcon Sprint to be thirteenth and Nigel recorded a 5.951 in his 2006 Falcon to be twelfth. The first round of eliminations saw Nigel advance with a 5.926 win over Peter Lovering's 6.210. Steve's 6.311 was no match for Emilio Spinozzi's 5.783. The second round saw Nigel up against Emilio and a 5.934 saw him advance again when Spinozzi recorded a 8.078. The semi final round saw Nigel run an improving 5.877 at 249.12 to go down to the bracket's eventual winner, Rob Harrington, who recorded a 5.841.
